Our Mission
At Youth Onward, our mission is to empower youth by creating an inclusive and supportive educational environment that fosters growth and self-discovery. Through engaging extracurricular programs in the arts, immersion in nature, and exploration of culture, we connect young individuals to their passions and potential. We believe in providing high-level opportunities that challenge and inspire, cultivating self-efficacy and nurturing confidence. By fostering long-term relationships between youth and adult mentors, we aim to ensure every young person has access to the skills, resources, and support needed to thrive. Our commitment is to provide a safe and nurturing space where youth can explore, learn, and develop the confidence to succeed.
Our Work
We work with 3rd to 8th graders after school and on non school days. We provide programs at schools, at our main building in SE Portland, and by taking small groups on field trips. Through all of our programming we build community by partnering with local entrepreneurs and their businesses to share real examples of success. We thrive by working with creative people and their talents shared with our youth. When our community comes together we are able to create a culture of greater understanding and support for all ages.
Arts Programs include drawing, painting, graphic design, screen printing, music, theater, culinary, animation and more.
Outdoor Programs include gardening, stewardship, environmental education, basketball, skateboarding, rollerskating and more.
